CSM James K. Hussey Jr.
June 1990 – April 1994
Former Signal Regiment sergeant major CSM (Ret.) James Hussey served four combat tours in Vietnam with 101st Airborne Division, 5th Special Forces Group, 75th Rangers and 196th Light Infantry Brigade. In Europe, he served as brigade communications chief, 1st Brigade, 8th Infantry Division; battalion S-3 sergeant and first sergeant, 32d Signal Battalion (Corps); first sergeant, 17th Signal Battalion; sergeant major and command sergeant major, U.S. Army First Sergeant School in Munich; command sergeant major, 440th Signal Battalion; and command sergeant major, 22d Signal Brigade, V Corps, U.S. Army Europe.
Some of the significant stateside assignments over his 30-year career included combat radio operator and wire chief at 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.; platoon sergeant and first sergeant, 9th Signal Battalion, 9th Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; first sergeant, U.S. Army Combat Development Experimental Command, Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif.; and the faculty at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas. He also served as command sergeant major of U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command and the post sergeant major at Fort Monmouth, N.J. As his last position, he was command sergeant major of the U.S. Army Signal Center and Fort Gordon, Ga., and the Regimental sergeant major.
CSM Hussey's awards and decorations include Legion of Merit, Bronze Star medal (four awards), Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Combat Infantryman's Badge and Senior Jumpmaster Wings. He was also awarded both the Signal Corps Regimental Association's Bronze and Silver Order of Mercury awards.
CSM Hussey was inducted as a Distinguished Member of the Signal Regiment in 1994. CSMR Hussey is currently serving as the District Director for Senator Saxby Chambliss
