PURPOSE:

This course is designed to develop Signal Non-Commissioned Officers as a Signal Digital Master Gunner (S-DMG) and commander's SME on the operation, maintenance, integration and training of the Local Area Network (LAN), Battle Command Common Services (BCCS) and Army Battle Command Systems (ABCS) by providing critical and near real time situational awareness in the unit's integrated Digital Tactical Operations Center (D-TOC).


COURSE SCOPE:

This five-week functional course supports the training of NCOs to install, operate, and maintain the LAN integration with BCCS and ABCS Systems. Instruction will encompass the following areas: Installation, configuration of routers/switches and networking devices, Battle Command Servers (BCS), Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS), Microsoft Exchange Server, Active Directory, Structured Query Language (SQL) Server, Domain Controller, Windows Web Services (WWS), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and Virtual Machine Software (VMWare); Digital common tasks to include Army Battle Command Systems (ABCS) Overview, Force XXI Battle Command Brigade-and-Below (FBCB2), Command Post of the Future (CPOF) integration and Blue Force Tracking (BFT); and a Capstone Exercise in which the student must create and connect network devices, install and configure Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (Server and Client), installation and configuration of CISCO Router and Switches, integration of Maneuver Control System (MCS), Satellite Transportable Trailer (STT) operations, Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) operations, and Signal Flow.

COURSE STRUCTURE:

a. The S-DMG Course is 5 weeks in duration and is programmed to train 72 students annually (six (6) iterations with optimum class size of 12 students). The Signal Digital Master Gunner (S-DMG) Course prepares Signal Non-commissioned Officers with standardized instructions required for assignment as a Signal Digital Master Gunner in a Brigade Combat Team (BCT). This course is structured in modules and lessons.

The Signal Digital Master Gunner (S-DMG) Course consists of seven modules that train students in tasks determined by the Signal Critical Task Site Selection Board (CTSSB) and training directed by TRADOC's Combined Arms Center (CAC). The seven modules are: Signal Digital Master Gunner (S-DMG) Introduction (Module A), Warfighter formation Network-Tactical (WIN-T) Inc 1 (Module B), Signal Support Systems (Module C), Battle Command Common Services (BCCS) System Administration (Module D), Army Battle Command Systems (ABCS) (Module E), Capstone (Module F), and the Administrative (Module G).
