Command Sergeant Major Thao Manu Kamakahi-Watson entered the Army in July 1986 as a Telecommunications Systems Operator which is now known as an Information System Chief MOS 25B.

She has held numerous duty positions to include G3 SGM for 311th Signal Command, SGM for the Pacific Theater Network Operations Signal Center (P-TNOSC), S3 SGM for 516th Signal Brigade in Hawaii, and Directorate SGM for the Leader College of Information Technology, Fort Gordon, GA, First Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, SOCEUR COMSEC Custodian and Radio Operator, Field Recruiter, Instructor, and Command Sergeant Major.

Some of her most significant awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal, 3rd oak leaf cluster; and the Army Commendation Medal with 4th oak leaf cluster.

Command Sergeant Major Kamakahi-Watson has completed every NCOES course to include United States Army Sergeants Major Academy class 56. She is also a graduate of the Battle Staff course, Systems Approach to Training, Instructors Training Course, Recruiter course, Airborne School, COMSEC Custodian course, Information Security Management course and the Combined Arms Forces Europe Treaty course. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from University of Maryland and a Master Degree in Information Technology System Management from TUI University.
