Prerequisites: Students attending the LCMS Course must possess the minimum of a SECRET Security Clearance. The minimum rank or grade requirements for course attendance are the same as the minimum grade requirements for appointment as a CAM and Assistant CAM mandated by AR 380-40, Paragraph 2-2. Additionally, it is highly recommended prospective LCMS students first complete the COMSEC Account Managers (CAM) Course prior to attending the LCMS Course. (NOTE: The CAM course was previously entitled the Standardized COMSEC Custodian Course.)


Provide formal course training on the characteristics and procedures required to operate the Local COMSEC Management Software (LCMS) workstation, and associated platform and ancillary devices.


This course provides instruction within the Army Key Management System/Electronic Key Management System (AKMS/EKMS) architecture. Students are taught functions of the LCMS application, workstation hardware, and related systems and devices; the system’s initialization and interface with other COMSEC management accounts; the automated processes to account for and manage COMSEC materials, to include ordering, generating, and distributing traditional and modern electronic COMSEC keys, conducting inventories, performing destructions, preparing and submitting reports within the AKMS/EKMS hierarchy, and performing other accounting and logistical procedures.


Course faculty cannot enroll students. All enrollments for the LCMS Course must be submitted via ATRRS by students’ training/schools points of contact. Course dates are available at under course number 4C-F59/160-F39. Reporting, billeting, meals, transportation, and other types information are provided to each attending student in a welcome packet emailed using the email address provided during ATRRS enrollment.
